Who we are

Ricardo Arenas, lives in Galapagos since 1985. For 4 years he worked an Institution that promotes the regional development. He studied economics, a specialization in developing projects in conflict areas in Israel; Shipping Business in NY; Auditory of the ISO 9001:2004 norm, Marine Security and more, capacitating him to carry out his activity with professionalism.

Between 1989 and 1998 he worked managing local tour vessels and hotels. He promoted, together with a group of people compromised with the Islands, the creation of the Special Law of Galapagos. He has been the promoter of private yacht and sailboats´ visits to the islands.

In 1998 he created Sail'n Galapagos, and has since then, up to today, assisted 80% of the international traffic, backed up by the quality of his assistance and service. At the moment he promotes and is looking to create a sailing school for the community's youth, and is participating in the design of new rules that will promote the visit of private yachts in Galapagos, recognizing this kind of visits in the Galapagos Regional model of tourism.

He has been concentrated in the assistance of private yachts and sailboats since 1999, optimizing the procedures of their assistance.

He has taken part in International Shows related to the world's private yacht industry. 2007 was a year with many difficult circumstances, being able to overcome and learning from them, but staying the leadership in the field.

He is also an activist through sport. TRIATLON GALAPAGOS (www.triatlongalapagos.com ) is an organization created in 2008 with whom he organizes recognized national and international runs, promoting a lifestyle that is compatible with Galapagos' nature [Galapagos' nature compatible lifestyle], and the regeneration of the biodiversity.

Yvonne Mórtola, is a Naturalist III (highest level) since 1984 (over 26 years experience), having worked in almost all the tourism vessels in the islands. Multilingual, in german, english and spanish. After Highschool she studied in Hannover – Germany. She is a naturalist that has assisted field investigations with Dr. David Anderson (Wake Forest University, North Carolina) with masked boobies and albatrosses. She was the Public Relationist of Hotel Angermeyer from 1994 to 1996, managing and organizing tour groups.

In 1998, together with her husband, they created Sail'n Galapagos, where she has guided many private yachts that visit the islands through them. Her excellent work has been recognized by the Galapagos National Park, the Charles Darwin Foundation and other international organizations.
She has taken courses in Marine Security and constant actualisation in management of groups and natural knowledge of the region.
Presently, she manages the relations with the clients and yachts.
